On behalf of the coaching staff,
We would like to welcome you to the
football program. We are looking
forward to a successful season.
It is very important that you
understand the commitment it takes
to be successful as an athlete on
this team. We promise to you that
the coaches and we will do
everything in our power to see that
our team has as much success as
possible. This means both on and off
the field. As coaches commit to this
team, we expect the same commitment
in return. There are several factors
that are vital in seeing that our
goal of success becomes a reality.
We call these the keys to success.
Or the three D's.
Key 1: The
first key to success is DEDICATION Dedication is
defined as the ability to set aside
for a purpose. What does this mean?
This means that football becomes a
top priority in your life. I feel it
should be second only to family,
faith and education. Other areas of
interest should be second to
football during the season. How do
you show your dedication to
football? There are many activities
you must be involved in to insure a
successful season, other than Friday
night games. It is important that
these football related activities be
attended: weight training, films,
pre-game prep and team meetings. It
is your responsibility to be at all
activities and to be there on time.
Remember, when you don't follow
through with your commitment by
showing dedication, you let coaches
down, the team down and most
importantly yourself.
Key 2: The second key to success
is DESIRE. Desire is
defined as wishing or longing for.
If you desire something, you are
willing to do whatever it takes to
get it. A person with desire is
willing to sacrifice other areas of
interest for the aim. For a person
with desire; just being on the team
is not enough. The desire to
contribute because of your love for
the game drives and pushes you to do
better. It is never enough because
perfection is your goal.
Key 3: The
third and most important key is
DISCIPLINE. Discipline is
defined as the result of hard
training; self-orderliness and
punishment. That means you push
yourself to the limit. You do
whatever is asked without question.
Talent is important, but discipline
makes the difference between just
another team and CHAMPIONS.
We strongly believe that these are
the keys to a successful season. It
is vital that we all do what we can
to apply these keys to our efforts
this year.
We are looking forward to the
challenge and welcome those team
members who are also. We think with
all of our efforts, we can make this
a season to remember.
“For The Mustangs Football
Program, it’s all about M.E.A.T. Maximum
Effort All the Time. In the classroom, in the
weight room, on the practice field, in the
community. We cannot be successful without
M.E.A.T.”
